John M. Rott joined Smithey Law Group in 2022, where he focuses on employment law issues, including sex, race, age, disability and other unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wage claims, federal, state, and local government employee termination appeals, as well as securing accommodations, negotiating equity compensation and severance packages, appealing terminations, and navigating internal workplace proceedings and investigations. Mr. Rott has experience with the entire litigation cycle, from initiating suit to discovery to motions practice and trial support and will work zealously to advance his client’s best interest.

Education and Background
A native of Anne Arundel County, Maryland and graduate of Severna Park High School, Mr. Rott received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hofstra University, where he dual majored in Economics and Political Science, earning Dean’s List Honors. Following his time in New York, Mr. Rott received his Juris Doctor from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. Mr. Rott previously interned with the Honorable Judge Andrea M. Leahy of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
