Associate Attorney

Max Breene is an Associate Attorney at Smithey Law Group. Prior to joining Smithey Law Group, Max was a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Michele D. Hotten of the Supreme Court of Maryland. He has also served as a Law Clerk at the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, where he worked in the Correctional Litigation Unit conducting legal research, drafting memoranda and analyzing inmate complaints.

Education & Background

Max graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2024. During law school, he served as Executive Notes and Comments Editor of the Journal of Health Care Law and Policy, practiced as a student attorney in both the Civil Rights of Persons with Disabilities Clinic and the Federal Appellate Immigration Clinic, and served as Vice President of the University of Maryland Association of Legislative Law. Additionally, he received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 2020, having majored in Government and Politics.
